Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 30, 2026
This notice explains the current data practices of Irvine Atlas, an independent business-information directory. We aim to collect and publish only information reasonably needed for the stated purposes.
1. Controller and privacy contact
Irvine Atlas is independently created and operated by Caroline Wilhelm S. Privacy, access, correction, deletion, listing-suppression and objection requests can be submitted to cwscaroline@gmail.com. Please include a description of the relevant page or record and the action requested. Do not send government IDs or sensitive documents in an initial message. We may ask for limited additional information when reasonably necessary to verify authorization.
2. Categories of information and purposes
- Public business listings: business names, trade names, industry or NAICS categories, business descriptions, official business website links, and business contact information where appropriate. Source records may also contain license-account identifiers, named individuals, employee counts, postal addresses, phone numbers, status and license dates; such fields are not automatically appropriate to republish.
- Technical and security data: network requests, IP addresses and related technical information may be processed by infrastructure providers to deliver and protect the site.
- Consent preferences: analytics and advertising choices, GPC state and preference timestamp stored locally in your browser.
- Analytics (only when enabled and consented): visit and interaction information, such as clicked link category and time spent viewing sections. We do not intentionally send visitor names or form responses as analytics events.
- Requests and corrections: information voluntarily included in your email or submitted to our external feedback form, used to respond, verify and correct records.
3. Providers currently used or supported
| Provider | Purpose / status |
|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Site delivery, hosting and security (active infrastructure). |
| GitHub | Development and source-code hosting; not a visitor advertising tracker. |
| Google Forms | External feedback form linked from the website; data submitted there is processed by Google under its own terms and controls. |
| Google Analytics 4 | Consent-gated integration implemented in site code; it runs only if a valid measurement ID is configured and the visitor permits analytics. Live deployment configuration has not been independently verified. |
| Google Ads, Meta, X advertising pixels | Planned or potential integrations only; no active advertising pixels were identified in the reviewed privacy/analytics code. They must not be activated without updating this policy and consent controls. |
4. Cookies, tracking and choices
Essential functions and security processing support site operation. Optional analytics and advertising consent are off until selected. Choose Reject Optional, Accept All or Customize in the first-visit dialog. You may change your decision using the Cookie Preferences control in the site footer. We recognize browser Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as an objection to advertising sharing in the site's consent logic. No statement here implies that consenting automatically activates a service that has not been installed.
5. Business directory sources and accuracy
The City of Irvine makes a public business-license search and public list available at its official public records website. The source includes fields that may relate to individuals. Public accessibility alone does not establish unrestricted reuse or permission to republish personal information. Irvine Atlas is independent, not an official city service. A record shown in this directory does not prove that a business is currently licensed, active, operating or in good standing. Check the official municipal source directly and note its actual record date. We do not claim live status verification.
6. Data minimization and corrections
Our publication policy is to omit personal contact names, residential and PO Box addresses used by individuals, personal phone numbers, private email addresses and other information not necessary for business discovery unless a documented and appropriate basis exists. Sole proprietors and home-based businesses require particular care. If you identify a record containing such information, request suppression or correction by email above or through the feedback form. A request for correction does not alter the City's underlying record; contact the City for official corrections.
7. Retention
Cookie preferences are kept in your browser's local storage until you change them or clear site data. Security and delivery logs are retained according to the hosting provider's applicable settings and policies. If configured, analytics data follows the retention settings of the connected analytics property, which have not been independently confirmed; request details before relying on a specific retention period. Feedback and privacy correspondence is retained only as reasonably needed to review a request, document its resolution and comply with legal obligations; no universal fixed deletion period is asserted without a verified retention configuration. We review records for relevance and honor justified suppression requests.
8. Your rights and requests
You can ask us whether we hold information about you, seek access, correction, deletion, restriction or suppression, and object to optional tracking or sharing. Rights and response requirements depend on applicable laws and the nature of the data. Send a message to cwscaroline@gmail.com with the URL or business record concerned, the requested action and a safe reply address. We will review and respond to requests as applicable; we will not require unnecessary sensitive documents. You can also immediately reject optional tracking in Cookie Preferences. California residents may have additional rights where the CCPA applies. We do not discriminate for exercising privacy rights.
9. External links and transfers
Official city sources, businesses, Google Forms and social networks are external services that have separate privacy practices. Site infrastructure and vendors may process data in jurisdictions outside your place of residence, subject to their own legal safeguards.
10. Children and updates
This business directory is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly seek personal information from children through the website. We will revise this policy when data practices, providers or legal obligations materially change and update the date shown above.
11. Accessibility
We use WCAG 2.2 Level AA as a technical design and testing target. This is a goal, not a claim that every page has been audited or certified. Report accessibility barriers to the privacy contact above.
